#CSEDay18 Event Roundup #1

Our Fourth National Child Sexual Exploitation Awareness Day (#CSEDay18) is upon us!

We have been inundated with events that will be happening around the country to raise awareness on the day 18th March 2018 or during March:

Basis Yorkshire – March 5 -18: CSE – In our own Words – Exhibition (at Shine Harehills) An exhibition co-produced by Basis Young People and Historic CSE service users and parents working with the Safe Project.
March 7th: Bake Sale
March 11th: Leeds City Centre Awareness Raising Stall
March 14th 4 – 6: Event CSE In our Own Words Booking Essential
CSE Learning Event featuring young people’s words and experiences as well as recent research findings on CSE/A Evaluation Methods
March 17th: WalkitorSupportit Sponsorsed walk by Time 2

West Sussex County Council (WSCC) – have planned social media campaigns, refreshed their CSE campaign page, offering a free CSE awareness raising session 15th March at Crawley Library. GP surgeries and health colleagues across West Sussex are supporting CSEDay18 with #STOPCSE screensavers activated during the week.

IMARA – are holding a raffle on 16th March to raise core funds, during the prize draw on FB Live they will be talking about CSE.

Milton Keynes Council – are holding free sexual exploitation awareness workshops. There will be 4 different workshops at different times over the day.

Safetyworks – have planned an event at Ashington Rugby Club on #CSEDay18 delivering an awareness session on CSE and Abuse to a variety of sporting coaches.

Tyne and Wear – Safeguarding “Think Family” Conference 16th March 2018 Rainton Meadows Arena. Speaker includes Kevin Murphy NWG Response Unit.

Not in Our Community – holding 2 summits which young people from every secondary school and alternative education provision from the Humber sub region is invited to attend.

NHS England North – is running a national week of action to highlight the importance of this area of safeguarding and working with and listening to Children and Young People. As part of this week of action a series of Webinars are being held for staff to register and join.

NSPCC North Wales – 22nd March 2018 09:30 – 16:00 NSPCC are holding a conference that offers an exciting opportunity to bring together professionals across North Wales to discuss current research and practice around CSE in conjunction with National CSE Awareness Day.

Derbyshire County Council – Councillor Dale has shown his support by writing a personal pledge to help raise awareness of CSE and posting it on Derbyshire County Council’s Facebook and Twitter pages with the campaign hashtag #HelpingHands.

Sandwell School Nurse Team – Awareness sessions being held in all Sandwell Secondary Schools on week commencing 19th March.

Warwickshire Police & CC – will be raising awareness all week across social media. They will be posting the best direct work tools and activities to support children and YP.
3rd annual Warwickshire CSE Schools Youth Conference will be taking place on Friday 16th of March.

Dover District Council – are organising a Youth Conference for all Year 8 Students in the Dover District, being held on Tuesday 6th March. They will be addressing the following topics:- Child Sexual Exploitation, Healthy relationships and sexual health, Gangs and Crime, E-Safety.

Kent Police – 15th March a multi-agency county wide event with stands in local shopping centres and dedicated officers attending CSE hotspots to speak with members of the public about CSE.

Southwark, London – Friday 16th March Tooley Street atrium stall with the police and any other partners who want to join
Saturday 17th March Community stall in The Blue market place
Sunday 18th March Police operation and council Church and Mosque weekend classes outreach. Presentation and discussion at the New Covenant Church, Old Kent Road.
Monday 19th March Docklands Settlement workshop. A morning CSE awareness workshop for voluntary sector youth workers, music teachers, and sport group coaches.
Tuesday 20th and Thursday 22nd March Parks staff workshops. Two CSE awareness workshops for all the council and non council staff who work in Southwark Parks.
